Water

How can water pollution be avoided or reduced?

The project was designed to avoid or reduce overall water pollution associated with the product service system. This may be done by:

  1. having received or in the process of receiving a certification,
  2. conducting a life cycle assessment (LCA) that identifies and calculates air pollution, and/or by
  3. measurable improvements in water efficiency resulting in reduced water pollution.

What is water pollution?

Water pollution may be described as the degradation of water quality caused by discharges to water from agricultural, industrial, urban, household, waste disposal and other sources. Most pollution is the result of human activity, however ‘natural’ causes may also contribute to water pollution.

What is cradle-to-cradle water stewardship certification?

‘Cradle-to-cradle’ refers to a framework by which products are evaluated, including design and a variety of life cycle steps. The process encourages continuous improvement and the certification provides a means of publicly communicating progress. The water certification requires that a water audit be performed.
